Wolcott High School students get safe driving lesson

Students at Wolcott High School got a lesson in safe driving habits Friday.
Juniors and seniors took part in a distracted driving awareness program where each student “test drove” in a simulator. All of their moves were recorded to see what happens when you drive distracted.
“I went right through a stop sign at one point,” said junior Julia Audibert. “I was swerving in between lanes on the highway. All I was sending was like, it was like, ‘what’s your favorite holiday,’ and I was like Christmas, and I was in the next lane.”
“I was trying to text,” said junior Bianca Bartoli. “I couldn’t even read the messages. Before I knew it I was right in front of a car and crashed.”

The school worked with local police to put the event together.
