Malton instructor Lisa Tidswell driving up funds for Children in Need with The Big Learner Relay

A MALTON driving instructor is taking part in The Big Learner Relay for Children in Need on Wednesday.

And Lisa Tidswell, whose business is called Learn with Lisa, is urging supporters to give generously.

The Big Learner Relay is a nationwide fundraiser organised by Hampshire instructor Louise Walsh and taking place over 14 days during November.

A top box - the kind that instructors have on the roof of their cars - will be relayed from one driving lesson to another on a 2,800-mile route around the UK.

Lisa will receive the box at Castle Howard at 5.30pm  from York instructor Kay Blackburn.

A pupil, who will be drawn out of a hat, will drive Lisa's Ford Fiesta to the Coach & Horses pub in Rillington.

Lisa's fellow local instructors Lynn Dilley and Andrew Douthwaite will follow in convoy.

At Rillington, Janet Hunter, another driving teacher, takes over for the next stage to Scarborough.

One method of fundraising sees pupils 'sponsor a spot' and stick it on the instructor's car.

Lisa said: "It doesn't have to be a pupil that gives the donation. Everyone else can get involved too."
